I have set up a page on our website to request prayer, even anonymously if needed. The requests go straight to one or more of our prayer warriors and we have got you covered in prayer!
Let us pray for you! Visit the Prayer Requests page. Tsiyon House of Worship fellowship December 28, 2019
A Messianic Hanukkah By Angela J. Willard Hanukkah (Chanukah) is the ‘Jewish’ eight-day “festival of lights,” celebrated with a nightly menorah lighting, special prayers, singing and dancing, and fried foods such as latkes and ‘jelly-filled donuts’. It is celebrated in memory of Elohim’s deliverance of the Jewish people who revolted against the Syrian-Greek oppression over 2000 years ago (167 BC – 160 BC ). The pagans overtook the temple of Elohim and defiled it and would not allow the Jewish people to continue with the commandments Elohim had given them. A small Jewish army overcame the strongest army on earth (at that time), and the temple was cleansed and restored. When the Jews went to light the menorah (a perpetual commandment in the Torah) they found there was only enough olive oil for one night. They blessed the oil, lit the one ‘oil candle’ and Elohim did the rest. That one jar of oil lasted eight nights instead of just one, which was a miracle. It was such an awesome miracle that this special time was commemorated and continues to this day. We celebrate victory over the enemy and Elohim’s miraculous meeting up with man’s inadequacy and need. The Hebrew word Hanukkah ‘Chanukah’ means “dedication,” and is named because it celebrates the rededication of the Holy Temple. Fast forward to when Yeshua (Jesus) was born into the world and was named The Light of the World. “Therefore יהושע spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall by no means walk in darkness, but possess the light of life.” John 8:12 ISR It is my belief that Hanukkah points the way to our Messiah Yeshua—who is our everlasting light in this sometimes very dark and cold world. This light, just like the original Hanukkah light, was a gift from Elohim sending light into a renewed temple. Now, because of Yeshua, WE are the renewed temple of Elohim. The eight nights represent a new beginning, in Biblical numerology, eight means new beginning. Yeshua is the everlasting light to the world and a new beginning for all mankind, not just the Jewish people. He brought a renewed covenant and established it here on earth. He is our new beginning when we turn away from our sinful nature and walk in the ways He has shown us. Whether you celebrate Hanukkah or not, I hope to help you understand it’s not just a Jewish holiday. It is a day to honor Elohim and the miracle of the Light of the World. It is for all of Elohim’s people. Happy Hanukkah! Tsiyon House of Worship is a fellowship of His Work Global Ministries, Inc. Tsiyon House of Worship December 21, 2019 Fellowship
Overcoming Evil with Good by Angela J. Willard Besides absolution of sins, another very important empowerment we receive from Yeshua Messiah is the ability to conquer (overcome) the enemy and his attacks. “But thanks to Elohim who gives us the overcoming through our Master יהושע Messiah” 1 Corinthians 15:57 ISR. Last week I was attacked with hurtful words that took me down, but not out. I clung to Elohim and prayed for peace, even through my tears. I prayed for the person who hurt me, and I made the effort to bless them daily, even when I didn’t feel like it. “Father bless so-and-so from their head to their feet. Bless them as they come in and as they go out, may all the work of their hands be blessed...” etc. Every day I prayed for them and blessed them. And I took those hurtful words that were used against me and laid them at my Father’s feet. “Bless those cursing you, and pray for those insulting you” Luqas (Luke) 6:28 ISR. This week, that person apologized and asked me for forgiveness. I had already forgiven them in my heart but it sure felt good to know they were truly sorry. This opened the door for us to talk about what was said and how we can avoid a hurtful situation in the future. Through this, not only was there forgiveness but then came understanding. We learned from one another and understood each other. So now it’s as if last week’s insult and injury never happened. We now have a clean slate, a fresh start. We overcame! “But in all this we are more than overcomers through Him who loved us” Romiyim (Romans) 8:37 ISR. What the enemy tried to do was destroy our relationship. But Yeshua is all about restoration and reconciliation. He has taught us the way of peace. If we follow Him and His examples, we will overcome evil in our lives when we do our part, even when the other party may not ever apologize or seek forgiveness. We will have peace even if they don’t. And in cases such as these we should continue to pray for the person to have peace in their lives as well. Prayer works. It is so important to understand that our enemy is Satan and his many demons. They are evil spirits that work through people, even us if we allow them. People are not the enemy. They are being used as a puppet from the kingdom of darkness whose only desire is to destroy the Kingdom of Light, everyone in it (Elohim’s children) and all that is good. We cannot allow him to work through us! We must pray for one another, instead of attacking one another with evil words, deeds and even thoughts. “The thief does not come except to steal, and to slaughter, and to destroy. I have come that they might possess life, and that they might possess it beyond measure” Yoḥanan (John) 10:10 ISR. “Be sober, watch, because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” Kĕpha Aleph (1 Peter) 5:8 ISR. If we want to have peace in our lives, we must walk in peace. This means we may need to be the person who steps forward in order to make peace, even when we were the person who has been wronged. Let us walk in the way of Yeshua and speak peace even to those who have hurt us. Let us be peacemakers and not evildoers. Only through this way can we truly overcome evil with good. “Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. If possible, on your part, be at peace with all men” Romiyim (Romans) 12:17-18 ISR. Tsiyon House of Worship is a fellowship of His Work Global Ministries, Inc www.hisworkministries.org |
